Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame Inducts Three AQG Members

On Sunday, September 23, three native daughters of Arizona were honored by their friends, families, and the Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame. The class of 2012 was the fifth group to be inducted into this organization that celebrates and honors the contribution of Arizonans to quiltmaking and educates the public about quiltmaking, its history, and artisans. Diane Pitchford, Wanda Seale, and Willene Smith were the deserving AQG inductees. They joined Jeannie Coleman and Carol Zupancic of Quilt For a Cause in Tucson and Karen Lalo Tootsie, a Hopi quiltmaker and quilt teacher.

Diane’s contributions to quiltmaking included her service to AQG as President and Quilt Show Chair, her many awardwinning quilts, her teaching, and her certification as an NQA Certified Judge.

Wanda was recognized for her award-winning quilted garments and quilts, her service to several AQG chapters, and most assuredly her tireless dedication to the Arizona Centennial Quilt Project.

Willene is known across the state for her indefatigable devotion to the DPS Quilt Project, her service to AQG as President and founding two chapters, and serving on the founding board of the Hall of Fame.

Congratulations to these wonderful ladies! We are so proud of them.
